this is typically a milestone at age 1.

but the law in the lone star state requires children to remain rear facing in car seats until they reach age 1 AND 20 pounds.  as you can tell from my AND, the weight requirement was the kicker for us.  the american academy of pediatrics also RECOMMENDS that children remain rear facing until age 2.  but that is only a suggestion at this point  in texas (not law) if the other two requirements are met. 

our little petites finally 'bulked up' enough to be granted approval for the big day!  i am behind in blogging (imagine that)...so this joyous event actually took place on september 15.

i think i heard the car seats and van thank me & mawmaw for the thorough cleaning, too!
